JulyAugust... Hon. Mr. [John] Ross [Canada West] presented a petition from the Directors of the Huron, Simcoe and Toronto Railroad Company, praying that the citizens of Toronto may be authorized to take stock in that railroad to the amount of £100,000.
He presented another petition from the Mayor of Toronto to the same effect. ..
Second reading of bills.
.. Hon. Mr. Ross then begged leave to introduce the following Bills:—Bill to enable the Citizens of Toronto to take Stock in the Toronto, Simcoe and Toronto Railroad ..

Second reading of bills.
.. Hon. Mr. Ross moved the second reading of the Bill to authorize the Corporation of Toronto to take Stock in the Toronto, Simcoe and Huron Railroad. The principle has been already admited in othese cases. He presented a Petition yesterday from the Corporation, and as it was his intention to refer it to a Select Committee, he supposed there could be objection to the second reading.
The Bill was then read a second time. ..
