Second track, Glencoe to Niagara Frontier.—A press dispatch from St. Thomas, Ont., from which place a lot of unreliable reports are sent, credited H. W. Matthews, Joint Superintendent, St. Thomas Division, Canadian National Ry., and Buffalo Division, Wabash Ry., with having stated recently that second tracking from Glencoe through St. Thomas to the Niagara River was under serious consideration, and that the matter had been taken up with headquarters early this year, with a suggestion that material to be excavated for the Welland Ship Canal be bought and used for the railway road bed. Enquiry of Mr. Matthews elicits the information that he is not aware of any plans for the work referred to.
