The Northern Railway.—The business of the Railway has commenced. On Monday [May 16] a passenger train left the city for Machell's Corners, a distance of thirty miles. In a few days the line will be opened to Bradford, when the announcement of regular trains will be made.

Toronto and Guelph Railway.—On Monday night the City Council refused, by a vote of 13 to 10, to accept the proposal of the contractors of the Toronto and Guelph Railway in purchase of £100,000 stock held by the Corporation.

Until further Notice, the Passenger Train will leave the Platform, at the foot of York Street, each day—Sundays excepted—at 8 A. M. for Machell's Corners. Returning, will leave Machell's Corners at quarter past 3 P. M.
